Ocean Events Pty Ltd based in North Fremantle, Western Australia is the inventor, promoter, and manager of the ‘2011 Around Australia Ocean Race’ and the ‘2011-12 Around Australia Ocean Rally’, the ‘Antarctica Cup Ocean Race’.

Our vision has created sailing events in the Indian Ocean region and around the bottom of the world. We concentrate on the two southern hemisphere continents you can freely sail around – Australia and Antarctica.

Ocean Events is proudly Western Australian and promotes sailing around Australia as unique and powerful means of introducing and showcasing  the vast tourism assets of the continent of Australia to a local and worldwide audience.

Ocean Events Pty Ltd event management team, and event advisory group, include yachtsmen and yachtswomen with extensive offshore sailing experience, event promotion and management, race and rally management, event sponsor management, event journalism, photography, Internet and printed event media production and distribution experience.

There are many full-time, part-time, and volunteer roles to be filled during the 12 months period running of the race and cruising events.

The Driving Force:

Bob Williams is the driving force behind the 'Around Australia Ocean Race & Rally' and the 'Antactica Cup Ocean Race' events. Bob is well known in Australian yachting circles as the owner skipper of the very successul pocket maxi 'Freight Train' that carved its name into many offshore sailing record books during the 1980's. Bob's offsore sailing history includes competing in the 1979 Parmelia Race from Plymouth to Fremantle in his yacht 'Parmelia'. Also the 1979 Fasnet Race and the notorious storm that played havoc on that event.

Bob's working life has revolved around the Australian civil, commercial, and industrial building industry with adventures into the building industry in London, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, Kuwait, New Zealand and the Cook Islands. Bob was instrumental in the Sultanate of Oman recently becoming involved in international sailing events introducing Dame Ellen MacAurtur and Mark Turner's OC Group to a management role with Oman Sail.

Bob's ambition is to develop the 'Around Australia Ocean Race & Rally' circumnavigation of Australia event into the biggest and best offshore ocean event of its kind in the world.
