The Western Australian Government is the cornerstone stakeholder and supporter of this major national sporting event.
The event is designed to promote the coastal tourism assets of Australia. The event funding model requires the collaboration of government tourism organisations in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and the Northern Territory to join Western Australia as stakeholders and collective beneficiaries of the considerable tourism, social and networking benefits the event offers.
The event is enjoying support from many organisations across Australia including Tourism Australia, Yachting Australia, state and federal government organisations, local governments, ports and harbours, major non-government tourism organisations, Variety the Children's Charity Australia wide, employer organisations (Chambers of Commerce and Industry), the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, Fremantle Sailing Club and many other major yacht clubs, media organisations, private corporations and more.
Needy children across Australia and from competing countries stand to receive sunstantial benefit through an alliance the event has with Variety Australia and Variety International.
Inaugural event is planned for 2013 (subject to participation of above mentioned state government tourism organisations).
Event two in 2015 to coincide with the Anzac Centenary Commemoration and the first landing of Australian and Allied forces on Gallipoli Peninsular in April 1915.
The event is for safety 'Category One' Monohull and Multihull race boats. Multiple start port options. Multiple stop-over ports. Crew changes permissible (view video above for details).
